Una , Nov 1 – With barely a fortnight left for the Himachal Pradesh Assembly polls, a former Congress MLA, Rakesh Kalia, now in BJP, has alleged that his former party sold the ticket for the Gagret assembly constituency seat for Rs 14 crore. Congress has denied it.
Kalia left Congress on October 25 and joined the BJP after being denied a ticket from Gagret seat.
Kalia has created a sensation amid the campaign for the November 12 polls and has also named a senior Congress leader in the alleged scam.
A video of Kalia’s speech on the scam has gone viral all over the state.
During a public meeting, Kalia said he was not denied a ticket rather it was sold by Congress at a higher bid.
The Congress is apparently on a backfoot after Kalia’s video of the meeting surfaced.
Congress in-charge for Himachal Pradesh, Rajiv Shukla said: “Those who do not get tickets often make such wild allegations. This allegation of Kalia is false and untrue.”
Kalia, on the other hand, says he left the party as he felt humiliated to see the blue flag of YSP above and the Congress flag. He said on Tuesday: “I could not tolerate this humiliation. The tickets of politicians are denied, it doesn’t matter, but the way they are sold is a serious matter.”
