Compensation for Collapsed Building Near Bhattakufer to Be Provided Soon: DC Shimla

Shimla Aug 28 : Shimla Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap has directed that compensation be provided without delay to the owner of the multi-storey building that recently collapsed near Bhattakufer. He was chairing a key meeting regarding the Kathlighat-Shimla four-lane highway construction and related compensation to affected families.

It was informed during the meeting that the compensation process for the affected building owner is underway. The DC instructed officials of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and the construction company involved to expedite the process. Last month, the DC had directed the construction company working under NHAI to pay ₹5.61 crore in damages to the affected family.

Progress of the highway construction was reviewed, and timely compensation to other affected families was emphasized. Instructions were also issued to prioritize the acquisition of unsafe structures in the area.

The DC stressed that all construction activities must adhere to environmental norms, particularly regarding soil dumping at designated sites only. Unauthorized dumping on private land is illegal and punishable.

Highlighting the importance of the four-lane project, he stated it will significantly improve traffic flow, enhance regional development, create local employment, and boost economic activities.

The meeting was attended by ADC (Protocol) Jyoti Rana, ADC (Law and Order) Pankaj Sharma, Additional SP Ratna Negi, Joint Commissioner of Shimla Municipal Corporation Bhuvan Sharma, and other departmental officials.
