Committee held a meeting with Central Narcotic Bureau in Gwalior

A committee constituted to study cannabis cultivation for industrial and non-narcotic use, held a meeting with the officials Central Narcotic Bureau in Gwalior of Madhya Pradesh today and discussed various aspects of Cannabis cultivation.
On this occasion, the committee held a detailed discussion over the various similarities between Cannabis and Opium besides the technical and legal facets involved in production and marketing with the officials of the bureau. The committee also seeks the support of the bureau in order to draft the policy for legalizing cannabis cultivation in Himachal.
Earlier, the Cannabis committee held a meeting with Excise and Taxation officials of Uttarakhand and people associated with cannabis cultivation.
On this occasion, Revenue Minister, Jagat Singh Negi said that in order to legalize the cultivation of cannabis for industrial and non-narcotic use the committee will comprehensively study and discuss the problems and challenges faced by the Uttarakhand Government. The committee will also consider the experiences and suggestions of people associated with cannabis cultivation in Uttarakhand.
They also obtained detailed information from the concerned officials about various aspects related to licensing for cannabis farming.
The Committee also held a detailed discussion with various firms about the variety of products and materials that can be prepared with cannabis. The firms also apprised the committee on how Himachal can make the best use of cannabis for various purposes. They also explained how it is beneficial for medicinal use and also plays an important role in strengthening the economy of growers.
Chief Parliamentary Secretary, Sundar Singh Thakur, MLAs Dr. Hansraj, Surender Shourie, Kewal Singh Pathania, Dr. Janak Raj, Purna Chand Thakur, Concerned Senior officials of Madhya Pradesh and Uttarakhand Government and representatives of various cannabis cultivation firms were present in the meeting.
