CM Sukhu Disburses ₹3.27 Crore to Women in Una under Samman Nidhi Scheme

Una, June 19: Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu distributed ₹3.27 crore to 7,280 women in Una district under the Indira Gandhi Pyari Bahna Sukkh Samman Nidhi Scheme. Each woman received ₹4,500 as a three-month honorarium. During the ceremony held at Kangad ground in Haroli, the Chief Minister handed out checks to the beneficiaries.

The Chief Minister highlighted that over 48,000 women aged 18 to 59 across the state have already benefited from this scheme, receiving ₹4,500 every three months. The state government has allocated a budget of ₹23 crore for this initiative. Sukhu accused the BJP of misleading women about the scheme and obstructing its implementation.

Sukhu addressed the frequent inquiries from opposition leader Jai Ram Thakur about the disbursement of ₹1,500 to women. He asserted that his government has shut down corrupt practices and ensured the honorarium reaches the women. He compared this with the central government’s annual ₹6,000 to farmers, emphasizing that the state Congress government is providing ₹18,000 annually to eligible women to support their self-reliance.

The Chief Minister criticized the previous BJP government for rampant corruption and economic mismanagement, claiming that the current Congress government is gradually stabilizing the state’s economy. He noted that for the first time, both the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister hail from the Hamirpur parliamentary constituency.

The Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri, who also attended the event, expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister for initiating the scheme in Haroli. He lauded Sukhu’s efforts in empowering women and revealed that the BJP had tried various tactics to stop the honorarium but failed. Agnihotri emphasized the importance of fulfilling promises in politics and announced plans to extend the honorarium scheme to the Nalagarh, Hamirpur, and Dehra constituencies post by-elections.

Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Dr. (Colonel) Dhani Ram Shandil praised Chief Minister Sukhu for his continuous efforts towards women’s empowerment since taking office. He highlighted the Chief Minister’s initiatives such as adopting orphaned children as “Children of the State” and the introduction of the Chief Minister Sukh-Aashray Scheme, which provides education and care for 4,000 children.

In addition to these announcements, the Chief Minister increased the GNM seats at Himcaps Law and Nursing College Badehra from 40 to 60 and allocated ₹50 lakh each for the improvement of Dulahad Park and Beetan ground.
