CM commends Shimla Police action against drug trafficking

Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has commended the effective action of the Shimla Police against drug trafficking and for identifying and seizing properties worth approximately Rs. 4.13 crore allegedly acquired from drug proceeds.
The Chief Minister said that the fight against drugs must extend beyond the arrest of traffickers and seizure of narcotics to dismantling the financial networks that sustain the illegal drug trade. He appreciated the financial investigation conducted by the Shimla Police and its action under the provisions of the NDPS Act.
He said that in 2026, the Shimla Police had so far seized properties worth more than Rs. 12.52 crore in 15 NDPS cases involving 68 accused persons and their associates.
The Chief Minister said the state government has adopted zero tolerance against drug menace and would provide all necessary support to the police and other agencies to take strict action against drug traffickers and their financial networks. He asked the police to continue such focused action to weaken the economic foundation of the illegal drug trade.
