Cleanliness Drive in Shimla Collects 110 Kg Plastic Waste

Shimla, October 3: A cleanliness drive was organised in Shimla under the “Mera Bharat – Meri Zimmedari” initiative to mark the birth anniversaries of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri.

The campaign was jointly organised by MY Bharat Shimla, volunteers of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, and NIFA NGO Shimla. Volunteers conducted an extensive cleanliness drive along the route from the Ridge to Jakhu Hanuman Temple and within the temple premises.

Around 110 kg of plastic waste, mainly single-use plastic, was collected during the campaign. Volunteers also sensitised the public about the harmful effects of single-use plastic and the need to protect Shimla’s environment.

Participants pledged to continue contributing to cleanliness and other social initiatives, highlighting the importance of collective responsibility in keeping Shimla clean and green.
