Shimla, December 4: Deputy Commissioner Shimla, Anupam Kashyap, chaired a meeting today focused on developing Chanshal Peak in Rohru subdivision into a prominent tourist destination.

Kashyap described Chanshal Peak as a picturesque and serene tourist spot in Shimla district, emphasizing the administration’s commitment to enhancing its tourism potential. He reviewed a comprehensive report prepared by Colonel H.S. Chauhan, a resident of Rohru, who has been working on the development plans for Chanshal Peak since 1993. Kashyap appreciated Chauhan’s dedication and detailed efforts over the years.

The Deputy Commissioner instructed officials to gather all relevant records and submit a detailed proposal to the government for further action. He also directed the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of Rohru to hold a meeting with the Forest Department, acknowledging their critical role since much of the Chanshal Peak area falls under forest jurisdiction.

Kashyap emphasized that developing the region would provide significant self-employment opportunities for the local population.

The meeting was attended by Additional District Magistrate (Protocol) Jyoti Rana, SDM Rohru Vijay Vardhan, SDM Dodra Kwar Sanjeev Kumar, District Tourism Development Officer (DTDO) Sanjay Bhagwati, and other officials.
