Chamba Approves 1446 New Social Security Pension Cases Under Speaker’s Chairmanship

Chamba, October 30 — Himachal Pradesh Vidhan Sabha Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania chaired the District Welfare Committee meeting at Bachat Bhawan today, approving 1446 new social security pension cases under various categories.
Pathania informed that ₹94.74 crore was spent last year to provide pensions to 56,161 eligible beneficiaries in Chamba district. For the ongoing financial year, assistance of ₹51.02 crore has been sanctioned for 56,678 pensioners from October 2025 to March 2026.
Breakdown of newly approved pension cases:
• 438 — National Old Age Pension
• 683 — Old Age Pension
• 62 — National Widow Pension
• 162 — Widow Pension
• 104 — Disability Pension
Approval was also granted for clearing 336 pending pension cases.
Additionally, funds were sanctioned for key welfare schemes:
• ₹3 lakh — Disability Scholarship Scheme
• ₹1 lakh — Divyang Marriage Grant Scheme
• ₹14 lakh — Inter-Caste Marriage Award Scheme
• ₹9 lakh — National Family Benefit Scheme
• ₹50 lakh — Svarn Jayanti Aashray Yojana
Pathania emphasized that the state government is committed to uplifting the economically weaker sections and directed officials to ensure benefits reach the last person in the queue, particularly in remote rural regions through awareness drives.
Deputy Commissioner Mukesh Repaswal welcomed the Speaker and assured timely implementation of all directives.
District Welfare Officer Raj Bahadur conducted the proceedings.
