Chamba: 150 Families facing power supply shutdown brunt
1 min readChamba, Jan 23 – Even after 17 days, the Electricity Board has not been able to restore power supply to Kulala and Shaul villages of Bondedi Panchayat of Churah sub-division. 150 families of the area are facing the brunt of power supply shutdown. On the other hand, the school children have to prepare for the annual examinations of Class X and Plus Two starting on March 11 in candle light. Due to disruption of power supply, people have to move to other villages to charge their mobile phones.
At the same time, flour mills are also lying closed in the area. The villagers have to travel 10 kilometers to get the wheat milled. The villagers have demanded the officials of the Electricity Board to restore the power supply on priority basis. Even after the transformer kept for Kulala and Shaul villages got burnt 17 days ago, the villages have not been able to light up till date.
People are facing problems due to the shutdown of power supply. Villagers say that due to lack of electricity, the villagers are not even able to use electronic equipment. Even after so many days, due to lack of smooth power supply, the life of the villagers has become like that of tribals.
Villagers shared that people especially housewives and sick people are facing problems due to shutdown of electricity supply in the area. It is said that if the electricity bills are not paid on time, the board management issues an order to disconnect the electricity connection.
