Cash, ornaments and liquor worth Rs. 8.40 crore seized

Illicit liquor, cash, drugs and jewellery worth around Rs. 8.40 crore has been seized since Model Code of Conduct (MMC) came into force in the State in lieu of Lok Sabha and bye-elections to the six assembly constituency.

Stating this here today, a spokesperson of the State Election Department said that the Police department has seized cash worth Rs. 24.76 lakh and 65 Grams of gold and silver ornaments worth Rs. 3.35 lakh. The excise department also impounded 396655 litre of illicit liquor worth          Rs. 5.80 crore. Till date, the confiscation of 37 kilogram of charas worth Rs. 74.63 lakh and 1.55 kilograms of heroin amounting to Rs. 1.08 crore has been impounded by the different enforcement agencies.
