Bride Runs Away 53 Days After Marriage in Hamirpur, Groom Alleges Fraud

Hamirpur, February 6: A case of fraud in the name of marriage has come to light in Hamirpur district’s Bhoranj police station area. A newlywed bride ran away from home just 53 days after the wedding. The victim, Jitesh Sharma, has filed a complaint with the police.

According to the complaint, Jitesh paid ₹1.5 lakh to the accused, Baldev Sharma, to arrange the marriage. On December 13, 2024, Baldev arranged Jitesh’s marriage with Babita, a woman from Kharsal village in Sarkaghat tehsil, at Bhoranj Court. Since Babita did not have a birth certificate, the marriage was conducted through an affidavit. The police are investigating the matter.
