BJP Accuses Chief Minister Sukhu of Neglecting State Governance for Personal Gain
2 min readDharamshala: Senior BJP leader and election in-charge Vipin Parmar and BJP chief spokesperson Rakesh Jamwal have jointly accused Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu of abandoning his governmental duties to secure his wife’s election win. They allege that since coming to power, Sukhu has been misleading the public with false promises and is now using his authority to ensure personal gains, such as harassing party workers to pave the way for his wife’s political aspirations.
The BJP leaders highlighted that during the Lok Sabha elections, both the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister refrained from fielding their daughter and wife respectively due to fear of defeat. They are now accused of misusing power to place the Deputy Chief Minister’s daughter and the Chief Minister’s wife in key positions. The situation has led to a former Congress candidate being hospitalized due to threats, simply for seeking a ticket for himself instead of the Chief Minister’s wife.
Parmar and Jamwal criticized the Chief Minister for offering lucrative promises to Dehra voters, questioning why similar demands by independent MLA Hoshiyar Singh were ignored, leading to his resignation. They argue that if initiatives had been implemented earlier, current state instability and unnecessary expenditures could have been avoided.
The BJP also accused the Chief Minister of creating a new police district in Dehra immediately after his wife’s election ticket was finalized, while ignoring the ongoing model code of conduct in Hamirpur. They criticized the ruling party for focusing on family development over public welfare, drawing parallels to national politics where seats were vacated for family members.
Despite Congress’s attempts to influence the elections with financial power, the BJP expressed confidence that the public would elect Hoshiyar Singh with a significant majority. They accused Congress of desperation, citing the cancellation of the venue approval for the former MLA’s nomination rally as evidence of their fear of defeat. The BJP concluded that the public is determined to expose Congress’s true motives and elect a BJP candidate to the assembly.
