Bihari Lal Sharma Criticizes Assembly Speaker’s Dual Statements

1 min read

Shimla: BJP state general secretary Bihari Lal Sharma criticized the Assembly Speaker for making contradictory statements. Sharma pointed out that while the Speaker felt hurt by Leader of the Opposition Jairam Thakur’s comments about the Speaker’s position, he himself often makes remarks without considering their implications. He questioned the Speaker’s use of terms, asking if it was appropriate to say, “three MLAs have been beheaded, and six are fluttering under the axe.”

Sharma highlighted numerous instances where the Speaker attended various Congress platforms and delivered political speeches. He questioned whether this was appropriate for the Speaker’s role and demanded an explanation from the current Speaker.

Sharma further criticized the Speaker’s claim that he is the Speaker inside the Assembly and a Congress leader outside. He urged the Speaker to choose whether he wants to serve as a Congress leader or as the Assembly Speaker.

Sharma also questioned the timing of the Speaker’s decisions, stating that while the decisions may adhere to Assembly rules, the timing seems to be at the Speaker’s discretion. He questioned why it took three months to expel the three independent MLAs and what rule caused such a delay. The BJP respects the position of the Assembly Speaker but believes that when the person in that position misuses their power, it tarnishes the dignity of the office.
