Ayurveda is Our Ancient Heritage: Col. Dr. Dhani Ram Shandil

Solan, March 2: Health & Family Welfare, Social Justice & Empowerment, and Sainik Welfare Minister Dhani Ram Shandil said that Ayurveda is India’s ancient heritage and a holistic science that balances body, mind, and soul. He was addressing a gathering in Gram Panchayat Satadol under Kandaghat sub-division.

Earlier, the Minister inaugurated a newly constructed Ayurvedic Health Centre building built at a cost of ₹37.18 lakh and a newly constructed Anganwadi Centre building constructed at ₹8.75 lakh in Satadol.

Dr. Shandil informed that Solan district currently has two Ayurvedic hospitals, two Homeopathic hospitals in Solan and Nalagarh, and 82 Ayurvedic health centres functioning under the AYUSH Department, providing improved healthcare services to residents.

He stated that the importance of Ayurveda is steadily increasing in modern times as it not only treats diseases but also emphasizes prevention and a healthy lifestyle. Highlighting its holistic approach, he said Ayurveda focuses on yoga, pranayama, balanced diet, and disciplined living, and urged people to adopt Ayurvedic practices for better health.

Referring to the state-level campaign, the Minister said that within the next three months, around 65,000 girls aged 14 years will be administered the HPV vaccine to prevent cervical cancer. He appealed to parents, Panchayat representatives, and health workers to actively support and spread awareness about the program. He added that HPV vaccination will be incorporated into the routine immunization program and provided free of cost under the supervision of medical officers, calling it a result of the Chief Minister’s forward-looking leadership.

As Social Justice & Empowerment Minister, he also stated that under ICDS, 1,281 Anganwadi and mini-Anganwadi centres in Solan district are currently benefiting over 6.13 lakh people. Nutritional support is being provided to children up to six years of age, pregnant women, and lactating mothers. He directed officials to ensure proper identification of eligible beneficiaries through coordinated efforts.

The Minister announced ₹5 lakh for construction of the second floor of the community hall in Satadol and assured that other demands would be addressed in a phased manner. He also honored newborn girl children on the occasion and listened to public grievances, directing concerned authorities to resolve them on priority.

Earlier, Satish Arya, General Secretary of Gram Sudhar Sabha Satadol, welcomed the chief guest and apprised him of local issues.
