Awareness Workshop on ‘MY Bharat’ Portal and ‘Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat’ Organised at St. Bede’s College, Shimla

Students Participate in Viksit Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue (VBYLD) Quiz and Take Pledge for a Drug-Free India
Shimla, 18 September 2026: With the objective of engaging youth in the nation-building process, familiarising them with various youth-centric opportunities and activities, and creating awareness about the harmful effects of substance abuse, an awareness workshop was organised at St. Bede’s College, Shimla by the NSS Unit of the College in collaboration with Mera Yuva Bharat (MY Bharat), Shimla, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India.
The workshop focused on familiarising students with registration on the MY Bharat portal, participation in various online quizzes and youth engagement activities, and creating awareness about the objectives and significance of the ‘Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat’ campaign. Students and NSS volunteers participated actively in the programme.
Orientation on MY Bharat Portal and Youth Participation
Shri Vipin Kumar, Deputy Director, MY Bharat, Shimla, who served as the resource person, provided students with detailed information about the MY Bharat portal, its functioning and the various opportunities available through the platform. He explained the process of registration, creation of a profile and participation in various quizzes, youth programmes, volunteer activities and nation-building initiatives available on the portal.
He particularly encouraged the students to participate in the Viksit Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue (VBYLD) Quiz. He highlighted that MY Bharat provides a platform for young people to participate in diverse activities and opportunities through which they can showcase their talents, ideas and leadership potential. Active youth participation can contribute significantly to strengthening social awareness and promoting greater youth engagement in nation-building activities.
Awareness Session on ‘Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat’
The second session of the workshop featured an awareness and expert lecture on ‘Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat’, delivered by Ms. Ashita Sharma, Youth Volunteer.
She sensitised the students about the adverse personal, familial and social consequences of substance abuse. She emphasised the importance of staying away from intoxicating substances, adopting a healthy lifestyle and spreading positive awareness about de-addiction among peers and within the community.
The session also highlighted the role and responsibility of young people in creating a healthier and drug-free society. At the conclusion of the session, the participants took a pledge to remain free from substance abuse and contribute towards building a drug-free society.
Active Participation of NSS Unit
The programme was coordinated by Dr. Vishal Chauhan and Dr. Devina Auchoyber, NSS Programme Officers. They apprised the students of the various opportunities and activities available through the MY Bharat portal and highlighted the importance of meaningful youth participation.
They stated that platforms such as NSS provide students with opportunities to understand their responsibilities towards society and actively participate in activities addressing important social concerns. Participation of NSS volunteers in MY Bharat initiatives can further provide young people with opportunities to develop leadership, volunteerism and a sense of social responsibility.
Principal Appreciates the Initiative
Sister Rosily T. L., Principal, St. Bede’s College, Shimla, appreciated the initiative and stated that programmes aimed at connecting students with youth initiatives, social causes and nation-building activities play an important role not only in their academic development but also in their overall personality development.
She emphasised the importance of developing social responsibility, leadership qualities, discipline and positive thinking among young people. She encouraged the students to stay away from substance abuse and actively participate in healthy, constructive and socially productive activities.
During the workshop, students received information about the MY Bharat portal, participated in the VBYLD Quiz, and reaffirmed their commitment towards the cause of a drug-free India.
The activities undertaken by Mera Yuva Bharat, Shimla are aimed at connecting young people with opportunities for information, participation, volunteering and nation-building, while encouraging them to become socially aware, responsible and active citizens.
