Approval of ₹30 Crore Annual Plan under Horticulture Mission

Deputy Commissioner Shimla, Anupam Kashyap, presided over a meeting of the District-Level Committee for the Integrated Horticulture Development Mission and the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana today.
During the meeting, an annual action plan worth ₹30.59 crore for the year 2025-26 under the Integrated Horticulture Development Mission was approved. Additionally, an annual plan worth ₹3.55 crore for the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana for the same period was sanctioned.
Deputy Commissioner Kashyap emphasized that the funds would be utilized to boost horticultural activities in Shimla district and strengthen the socio-economic status of farmers and horticulturists. He directed departmental officers to ensure that remote areas like Dodra Kwar, Kupvi, and the 15/20 region benefit from these schemes.
He also announced that a joint workshop by the Horticulture and Agriculture Departments would be held in January, with participation from local horticulturists.
Highlighting the importance of proper irrigation, the Deputy Commissioner urged the departments to focus on sustainable irrigation practices. He further stressed promoting horticulture in the district to encourage unemployed youth to adopt agriculture and horticulture as self-employment opportunities.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Sudarshana Negi, Deputy Director of the Horticulture Department, Shimla, along with other committee members.
