APG Shimla University Launches Week-Long Green Drive on World Environment Day

On the occasion of World Environment Day, students and faculty members of APG Shimla University united for a tree plantation drive to promote environmental awareness. NSS volunteers, Registrar Prof. Dr. R.L. Sharma, NSS Program Officer Dr. Pyar Singh, Media Coordinator Dr. Vijay Shree, and Dean of Student Welfare Dr. Neelam Sharma participated in the event held on the university campus.

Dr. R.L. Sharma planted a Chinar tree and addressed students and faculty, stressing that the world is facing a severe environmental crisis, including water scarcity and increasing pollution. He emphasized the need for active public participation to tackle these issues effectively.

NSS Program Officer Dr. Pyar Singh stated that protecting the environment is essential for preserving life on Earth. He warned against tampering with nature, equating it to endangering human life. Dr. Neelam Sharma echoed similar sentiments, highlighting how Indian culture has always advocated harmony with nature.

Media Coordinator Dr. Vijay Shree appreciated the Journalism Department students and NSS volunteers for their awareness videos, praising their creativity and dedication to spreading the message of conservation.

A week-long plantation drive has also been launched, with all NSS volunteers and students encouraged to plant saplings in their hometowns.
