Anurag Thakur Excluded from Modi 3.0 Cabinet

2 min read

New Delhi: In a surprising move, BJP leader and former Union Minister Anurag Thakur will not be part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s third-term cabinet, sources have revealed.

Anurag Thakur, who won the general election from Himachal Pradesh’s Hamirpur, held significant portfolios such as Sports and Information & Broadcasting in the previous term. Despite his influential roles and successful tenure, Thakur will not be included in the Union Cabinet in Modi’s latest alliance government.

Thakur’s exclusion has raised eyebrows as he was seen as a key figure in Modi 2.0, driving major initiatives in his ministries. His leadership in sports, especially during the Tokyo Olympics, and his efforts in the information and broadcasting sector were widely recognized.

The reshuffle also saw the exclusion of other prominent leaders, including Smriti Irani and Narayan Rane. Irani, who served as the Women and Child Development Minister, lost her Lok Sabha seat from Uttar Pradesh’s Amethi to Congress’s Kishori Lal Sharma. Rane, who was the Minister for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises, retained his seat from Maharashtra’s Ratnagiri-Sindhudurg but will not be part of the new cabinet.

The new Modi 3.0 cabinet includes key BJP leaders such as:
– Amit Shah
– Rajnath Singh
– Nirmala Sitharaman
– S. Jaishankar
– Nitin Gadkari
– Mansukh Mandaviya
– Piyush Goyal
– Ashwini Vaishnaw
– Dharmendra Pradhan
– Bhupender Yadav
– Prahlad Joshi
– Kiren Rijiju
– CR Paatil
– L Murugan
– Hardeep Puri
– ML Khattar
– Shivraj Singh Chouhan
– Gajendra Singh Shekhawat
– Suresh Gopi
– Jitin Prasada

These leaders will continue to play vital roles in the government’s policies and direction, while Thakur’s absence will be keenly felt in the sports and information sectors.
