Mock drills strengthen coordination among agencies during emergencies: Hemraj Bairwa

Dharamshala, August 22: The annual anti-hijacking mock exercise and Aerodrome Committee meeting were held at Gaggal Airport on Friday under the chairmanship of Kangra Deputy Commissioner Hemraj Bairwa.

The exercise involved the Police, Health Department, District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Intelligence Bureau, Army, National Security Guard (NSG), airport staff, Airport Police Security Unit and other concerned departments and security agencies.

Bairwa said the exercise was aimed at assessing and strengthening the preparedness, coordination, communication systems, rapid response mechanisms and joint operational capabilities of all agencies to deal effectively with a possible aircraft hijacking or other aviation-related emergency.

He said such mock drills play an important role in ensuring that all agencies are prepared to respond in a coordinated and effective manner during any emergency.

During the exercise, participating agencies reviewed their respective roles and responsibilities. The authorities also discussed ways to improve inter-agency coordination, address potential gaps and ensure a quick and effective response during an emergency.
