And Tour Operators Meet at Rashtrapati Niwas

A media/ press visit was held at the picturesque Rashtrapati Niwas today. Along with this visit, a tour operators meeting was also successfully conducted. They were given a tour of the Rasthrapati Niwas, Mashobra and were briefed about the attractions and facilities for visitors by  Kumar Samresh, Public Relations Officer at Rashtrapati Bhavan and Bharat Bhushan, Manager, Rashtrapati Niwas, Mashobra.

The Rashtrapati Niwas, Mashobra is a 173-year-old heritage building located in the picturesque surroundings of Mashobra, Himachal Pradesh. Located a thousand feet higher than the Shimla ridge top, the main building is a wooden structure in European architectural style. The estate has a plinth area of 10,628 sq. ft. and comprises the main building, lawns, orchards and nature trails.

 

The Hon’ble President visits the Rashtrapati Niwas, Mashobra once a year, and the President’s Secretariat also shifts to Mashobra during the President’s stay. Until now, the Niwas were not accessible to the public. It is for the first time that the heritage building of Rashtrapati Niwas, Mashobra has been opened to the general public from 23rd April 2023.

 

Key attractions for visitors and tourists at Rashtrapati Niwas, Mashobra:

  • Main Building – The interiors of the Niwas’ main building, a completely wooden structure with “dhajji” wall construction, opened to the general public for the first time. Visitors get a glimpse into the life of the president by exploring the presidential wing, official dining hall, and artifacts.

 

  • Lawns – The lawns at the Rashtrapati Niwas offer a range of attractions like curated tulip flower beds for the first time in the estate, a ceremonial lawn, a flag pedestal, and a telescope for visitors to enjoy breathtaking mountain views. The lawns at the Rashtrapati Niwas are the perfect way for visitors to immerse themselves in the tranquility of the region.

 

  • Orchards and Nature Trails: The orchards at the Rashtrapati Niwas are full of apple trees and offer nature trails for visitors who seek outdoor adventures. Nature trails lead visitors to numerous attractions, such as a photo booth, well, helipad viewpoints, which are planned to be opened to the public.

 

Visitor facilities at Rashtrapati Niwas, Mashobra:

For the convenience of tourists, the Rashtrapati Niwas, Mashobra provides a cloakroom, wheelchair access, a café, a souvenir store, restrooms, and water dispensers across campus, guided tours with scholar guides, and a first aid set up.

 

Booking information:

The general public has started visiting the Rashtrapati Niwas, Mashobra from April 23, 2023. For easy access and seamless visit, visitors can book their tickets online through the official website of Rashtrapati Bhavan (https://visit.rashtrapatibhavan.gov.in/). Onspot booking is also available. The Niwas opens on all days except Mondays and other government holidays from 10:00 AM to 05:00 PM.

 

More than 10,000 visitors have already visited the Rashtrapati Niwas till day.
