First Fair-Price Medicine Store in Kangra District Under Current Himachal Govt.

Shahpur, March 2: Shahpur MLA and Deputy Chief Whip Keval Singh Pathania inaugurated a fair-price medicine outlet at Civil Hospital Shahpur, operated by the Himachal Pradesh State Civil Supplies Corporation.

Calling it a historic day for Shahpur residents, Pathania said the store will ensure round-the-clock availability of medicines at prices 10 to 50 percent lower than the prevailing market rates. The initiative is expected to provide significant financial relief to the general public, particularly economically weaker and needy sections.

He directed the Block Medical Officer (BMO) to ensure that hospital doctors do not prescribe medicines or diagnostic tests from outside unnecessarily, so that patients are not burdened with avoidable expenses.

On the occasion, Vishal Chambiyal, Vice Chairman of the Himachal Pradesh State Civil Supplies Corporation, stated that the outlet has been made possible due to the continuous efforts of the local MLA. He added that this is the first fair-price medicine store opened in Kangra district after the formation of the present state government, and it will directly benefit the local population.
