83 Himachal Students and Teachers Complete Educational Tour of Mumbai

Shimla, Oct 17: A group of 83 students and teachers from Himachal Pradesh has returned after completing a five-day educational tour of Mumbai under the National Avishkar Abhiyan. Organised by Samagra Shiksha, the initiative aims to complement classroom learning with practical experiences in science, history and culture.

Participants from Mandi, Kullu, Lahaul-Spiti, Bilaspur, Kangra and Chamba visited the Gateway of India and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya, where they explored Mumbai’s history, architecture, art and heritage. At the Nehru Science Centre, students interacted with scientific models and exhibits, while a visit to the planetarium introduced them to astronomy and space-related phenomena.

The visit to Wonderla Water Park offered opportunities to relate concepts such as force, motion and speed to practical examples. Students also visited Siddhivinayak Temple to learn about Mumbai’s religious and cultural traditions and explored Marine Drive to experience the city’s coastal landscape and urban life.

In the second phase, 82 students and teachers from Shimla, Kinnaur, Solan, Sirmaur, Hamirpur and Una districts are scheduled to participate in a similar educational tour from October 22 to 26.

Earlier, 104 students and teachers from the state visited Jalandhar and nearby destinations under the initiative. Their itinerary included the Golden Temple, Jallianwala Bagh, the Wagah Border retreat ceremony, Science City, Ram Bagh Garden and Wonderland Park.

The educational tours are intended to encourage scientific curiosity, logical thinking, creativity and confidence while helping students connect classroom concepts with real-life experiences and gain a deeper understanding of India’s history and cultural diversity.
