Police have arrested two individuals in connection with a human trafficking racket that lured young men from Chamba district abroad with promises of lucrative jobs. The accused allegedly sent victims to Thailand and later forced them into illegal captivity near the Myanmar border.

According to the complaint filed by Karan Singh of Bhalogi village, he became acquainted with Devender and his associates during his hotel management studies in Chamba. They promised him employment overseas and took ₹80,000 in cash. With the help of a person named Yash, Karan was sent to Thailand, where armed men abducted him from the airport and forced him to work under threat. The gang reportedly claimed they had “bought” him and demanded ₹5 lakh from his family for his release.

In another similar case, Aman from Karmog village stated that he was also cheated by the same group, who took ₹77,000 from him before sending him to Thailand. He too was kidnapped by an armed gang upon arrival.

Both youths managed to escape along with other Indians and reached the Myanmar-Thailand border, where they surrendered before the Thai Army. With the assistance of the Indian Embassy, they were safely brought back to India.

Police are continuing investigations to uncover the full network involved in the trafficking operation.
