JUIT IEEE Hosts Workshop on Smart Living and Sensor Fusion for Home Automation

The IEEE JUIT Student Branch, in collaboration with IEEE Region 10 Education Activities and the IEEE Delhi Section, successfully hosted a two-day workshop titled “Smart Living: Harnessing Sensor Fusion for Home Automation” at Jaypee University of Information Technology (JUIT), Solan, Himachal Pradesh, on August 22-23, 2024. The workshop provided participants with a comprehensive understanding of sensor fusion technology and its applications in creating smart, automated home environments.

The event, held in ECL6 on the JUIT campus, featured technical sessions that covered topics from the basics of sensor technology to advanced integration techniques for efficient home automation systems. The workshop began with an insightful session by Dr. Vikas Baghel from the Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering at JUIT, who introduced various sensors such as temperature, humidity, motion, and light sensors, and explained how sensor fusion can improve data accuracy and system reliability. On the second day, participants engaged in practical exercises and interactive sessions led by Dr. Emjee Puthooran, who demonstrated real-world applications of sensor fusion in home automation.

The workshop concluded with a discussion on the future of sensor fusion in home automation, encouraging participants to continue exploring this dynamic field. Dr. Shruti Jain, Branch Counselor of IEEE JUIT SB, highlighted the workshop’s success in equipping attendees with the knowledge and practical skills to innovate in smart home technology. The event saw enthusiastic participation from students and professionals, sparking interest in further research and development in sensor fusion and home automation.
