Free testing of samples of tuberculosis patients in Bilaspur dis

Bilaspur, Jan 13 – The department of health and family welfare is conducting Samples of tuberculosis patients free of cost in 17 government health centres of the district, said Chief Medical Officer Bilaspur Dr Praveen Friday. The main aim of the tests is to make the district TB free district.
He said if any person has symptoms like a cough for two weeks or more, mild fever, loss of appetite, night sweats and loss of weight and blood in sputum, he/she could go to the nearest health facility to get the investigation done.
Dr Praveen said new sputum testing centres have been set up at Regional Ayurveda Hospital Bilaspur and Ayurveda Hospital Kandraur and any person can get his sputum tested. He informed me that microscopes with state-of-the-art technology have been installed in these centres.
Appealing to the general public, he said they should cooperate to make
the district and the state TB-free. He said a target has been set to make the district TB-free by the year 2023, for which the state government has decided to expand the diagnostic network, frontline response, treatment adherence, community participation and different types of special programs from time to time to eliminate TB. TB eradication awareness campaigns and programs have been conducted.
He said from January 2022 to December 2022, 766 TB patients were registered in the district for simple TB medicine and 440 patients have recovered after treatment and 13 patients have been registered for drug-resistant MDR TB so far.
