Kangra valley rocked
1 min readKangra, Dec 26 – Kangra valley experienced earthquake on Monday measuring 2.8 on the Richter Scale, the tremors lasted for a few seconds, its epicenter was detected in the Kangra region, no loss of life and property was reported from any part of the valley.
The earthquake was of mild and it had a depth of 5 kms, its origin was located at latitude 32.37 North and Longitude 76. 84 East. People experienced their minor shocks and some people rushed out of their houses in panic. The entire valley experienced the tremor. The tremors took place at 11.00 hrs.
Deputy Commissioner Kangra Nipun Jindal told UNI that there was no loss of life or property reported from any part of the district due to the earthquake.
Kangra valley falls in the seismic Zone V and had experienced a devastating earthquake on April 4, 1905 in which 10,527 residents of Kangra temple town perished and property worth crores of Rupees was destroyed.
