Shimla, September 20, 2025:
St. Thomas’ School, Shimla, celebrated its Junior Sports Day with energy, colour, and enthusiasm, where students from Classes III to V displayed their athletic skills across a variety of events. The day was graced by Reverend Dr. Vinita Roy, Pastor of Christ Church, Shimla, as the Chief Guest, who applauded the school for instilling both sporting excellence and life values in its young learners.
The programme began with a soulful prayer and a vibrant musical drill, performed by all four houses — Shipkila, Toshqui, Kasturi, and Chinar — setting a spirited tone. Students then competed in flat races, sack races, hurdle races, obstacle races, taekwondo, lezim, dumbbell PT, mass PT, tug of war and more, cheered on by an enthusiastic audience of parents. Adding to the festive atmosphere, parents also participated in fun games like musical chairs and balancing the books.
The highlight of the day was the announcement of winners. Toshqui House clinched first place in the Tug of War, while Kasturi House secured top honours in the March Past. Several individual athletes, including Arman, Ravi, Parushi, Mrinal, Arun, Manya, Hanspriya, Manan, and Dixit, also won accolades across different events.
In her address, Principal Vidhupriya Chakravarty underlined that the Sports Day was not only about fitness but also about teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship, values that extend beyond the field. Chief Guest Rev. Dr. Vinita Roy commended the event for helping children grow into confident, resilient, and balanced individuals, prepared for both academic and life challenges.
The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Vice Principal Sharon Nanda, who expressed gratitude to the Chief Guest, parents, and staff for their support in making the day a resounding success.
