St. Thomas’ School, Shimla Hosts Two-Day CBSE Workshop on Inclusive Education

A two-day workshop on Inclusive Education was organized by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on March 11 and 12 at St. Thomas’ School, Shimla. The event aimed to train teachers in adopting inclusive practices to ensure quality education for all students, regardless of their abilities or needs.

The workshop was led by CBSE resource persons Mrs. Manjeet Jauhar and Mrs. Neetu Jhatta, who facilitated multiple interactive sessions over the two days. The inauguration began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, followed by a welcome address by the school’s Principal Mrs. Vidhupriya Chakravarty and Vice-Principal Mrs. Sharon Nanda. Mrs. Chakravarty also presented a brief overview of the program and its objectives.

Around 60 teachers from various institutions across the region took part in the workshop. Participating schools included Trinity International School (Fagu), Rashtriya Military School (Chail), Raja Dilip Singh Memorial School (Halog), and The Good Shepherd School (Solan), in addition to teachers from the host school.

The sessions covered crucial aspects such as the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016, understanding 21 types of disabilities, inclusive teaching strategies, and the role of the Rehabilitation Council of India. Emphasis was placed on fostering empathy, emotional well-being, healthy interpersonal relationships, and responsible citizenship in inclusive classrooms.

Speaking at the conclusion, STNC Mrs. Anshul Sharma expressed gratitude to the resource persons and all participating educators. Principal Mrs. Vidhupriya Chakravarty congratulated everyone on the successful execution of the workshop and affirmed that such CBSE Capacity Building Programs (CBP) would continue in the future.
