St. Thomas’ School Marks Independence Day with Patriotic Fervour

Shimla, August 15: St. Thomas’ School celebrated the 79th Independence Day of India with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervour. The celebration began with the flag hoisting ceremony, where Sushma Kuthiala, Councilor of Ward No. 14 Ram Bazaar, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.

Students from Nursery to Class 12 participated in the vibrant programme, which featured patriotic songs, dances, poem recitations, speeches, and a short play dedicated to India’s freedom fighters. The heartfelt performances reflected the students’ deep respect for the nation and its heritage.

The school’s Principal, Vidhupriya Chakravarty, and Vice Principal, Sharon Nanda, welcomed and honoured the Chief Guest. In her address, Mrs. Kuthiala spoke about the significance of independence, urged the youth to contribute towards nation-building, and advised them to lead a healthy, drug-free lifestyle while maintaining cleanliness in their surroundings.

Chakravarty extended Independence Day greetings to all, commended the efforts of the students, and encouraged them to become responsible citizens who actively work for the country’s progress.

The event concluded with the National Anthem, leaving students and staff brimming with patriotic spirit and unity.
