St. Thomas’ School, Shimla marked its centenary with a stunning, first-of-its-kind Light and Sound show titled “Nav Nabh Nirman – Building a New Sky”, which mesmerized the audience with its breathtaking scale, emotional depth, and theatrical brilliance.
The show creatively narrated the school’s inspiring 100-year journey—from its origin as a Native Church to its evolution into a premier educational institution. What set the production apart was its immersive design: every building façade, classroom window, and balcony became a storytelling platform. With seamless choreography, vibrant costumes, live narration, and poignant dramatizations, the entire campus turned into a living stage.
A standout moment was the enchanting portrayal of Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”, where a swing suspended from a school building added a surreal, magical touch. This innovative use of space and layered storytelling captivated all present, showcasing the vision, discipline, and creativity of the student performers and mentors alike.
The production, scripted and directed by noted theatre artist Nandini Banerjee and lit by the expertise of Sudho Banerjee, was a testament to the immense talent and dedication of the school’s students. Months of preparation and hard work culminated in a performance that didn’t just celebrate the past—it embodied a living legacy of education, values, and imagination.
The event was graced by Hon’ble Speaker of the Himachal Pradesh Vidhan Sabha, Kuldeep Singh Pathania as Chief Guest, and Rt. Rev. Manoj Charan, Bishop of Amritsar and Chairperson of the School, as Special Guest. Principal Vidhupriya Chakravarty extended heartfelt thanks to the guests and praised the students’ efforts as “a perfect tribute to our centenary spirit.”
