S.R. Harnot Honored with ‘Shoolini Sahitya Samman 2025’

Solan’s prestigious Shoolini University honored renowned author S.R. Harnot with the “Shoolini Sahitya Samman 2025” on April 30, 2025. The award was conferred by the university’s founder and eminent educationist Prof. Prem Kumar Khosla in the presence of noted actor Rajit Kapur, actress Shehnaz, festival organizers, and a distinguished audience of writers, artists, musicians, and students from across the country. Educationist and writer Jagdish Kashyap from Shimla was also present on the occasion.
Before the felicitation, Rajit Kapur and Shehnaz performed a dramatic reading of two of Harnot’s widely acclaimed short stories, “Bees Foot Ke Bapu Ji” and “The Reddening Tree”, in English translation, accompanied by music. The 90-minute performance captivated the audience in the packed hall, earning widespread appreciation for Harnot’s storytelling.
Upon his arrival, Dr. Purnima Bali, Engineer V.K. Chopra, Dr. Prakash, and other scholars and students welcomed Harnot warmly. While accepting the award, Harnot expressed gratitude to Shoolini University, calling it a unique and surprising honor to have his literary works celebrated at an academic institution. The university also added all of Harnot’s books to its library collection.
With over 22 published books, Harnot’s literature is taught in more than 15 universities across India. His works are the subject of over 50 research studies, including MPhil and PhD theses.
