Pride and Performance Define St. Thomas’ School’s Annual Day

Shimla, October 17: St. Thomas’ School, Shimla, proudly celebrated its 101 years of academic excellence with the Annual Appreciation Day for Classes IX to XII, held with great enthusiasm and grace. The event was graced by Pankaj Sharma, HAS, Additional District Magistrate (Law & Order), as the Chief Guest.
The ceremony commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the Chief Guest, Principal Vidhupriya Chakraborty, and Vice-Principal Sharon Nanda. Principal Chakraborty welcomed guests and parents and presented the Annual Report for 2024–25, highlighting the school’s milestones and achievements.
The cultural programme opened with Pushpanjali, a captivating performance featuring Kathak, Bharatanatyam, and Odissi, followed by a soulful Bandish – Raag Malhar. Students presented a Hindi play “Thorns”, a musical medley, and a radio play adaptation of Shakespeare’s “Merchant of Venice” (Act I, Scene II) — performances that received overwhelming appreciation from the audience. The event concluded on a lively note with the traditional Himachali Nati, celebrating the spirit of the hills.
The Prize Distribution Ceremony honoured excellence across categories. Khushi Thakur received the “Student of the Year” award, while others were recognized for proficiency, full attendance, and good conduct.
Chief Guest Pankaj Sharma lauded the efforts of the students and teachers, saying,“St. Thomas’ School’s legacy of nurturing confident and compassionate learners for over a century truly sets a benchmark in education.”
The event was attended by dignitaries including Dr. Meenakshi Faith Paul, Principal, Evening College Shimla; Smaraki Samantaroy, Principal, Auckland House School for Girls; Reuben John, Principal, Auckland House School for Boys; and Reverend Dr. Vinita Roy from Christ Church, Shimla, alongside representatives from YWCA and the DC Office.
The celebration concluded with applause and pride as St. Thomas’ School continued its journey of excellence, marking 101 glorious years of education, culture, and service.
