JUIT Celebrates Fresher Day ‘DIKSHA’
2 min readShimla, Oct 03 : JUIT has a proud tradition of welcoming freshmen by organizing an event named DIKSHA, where they can perform, enjoy themselves, and showcase their talents to their seniors and faculty members. The welcome party for the students began with a brief introduction of the event, marked by jovial smiles and high spirits. A lamp-lighting ceremony was conducted by Vice-Chancellor Dr. Rajendra Kumar Sharma, followed by a heartwarming speech. In accordance with tradition, the baton was passed to the new JYC Council for 2022-23.
The music and band, rhythm twisters, Apocalypse, and theatre performances captivated the audience.
For Mr. And Mrs. Fresher’s, first-year students participated in a ramp walk. They showcased their talent to the audience, and then the girls performed an unexplainable classical dance that captured the audience’s full attention with lots of joy. As a result, DNR, PAKKE PAHADI, and UBC performed their most awaited dances by attracting the large crowd’s energy. In the end, Dr. Ruchi Verma a faculty in the CSE/IT department of JUIT announced the results.

Along with this, DNR won the award for the best dance group.
Event was witnessed by hundreds of students of JUIT along with registrar and dean of students Major Gen. (Retd.) Rakesh Bassi, various heads of the departments and faculty members which includes Dr. Gopal Singh Bisht, Department of Biotechnology and Bioinformatics and Dr. Amit Srivastava, JYC faculty In-charge.
Finally, the event was concluded with a clear message that seniors have the responsibility to welcome their juniors for the new place and environment with loads of happiness so they can be well established on the path of success. Reciprocally, juniors should learn the Indian tradition of respecting their elders and seniors for giving a positive vibe to the whole campus of JUIT.
