Gratitude must for contended life” : Basu Rai

“A sense of gratitude is one of the most important traits that everyone must have for a contended life”.
This was stated by renowned child labour activist Basu Rai at a “Guru Talk” organised at Shoolini University. He is also the author of autobiography “From the streets of Kathmandu” and the founder of Basu Rai Initiative Foundation.
Expressing and feeling gratitude for what the Almighty and the world has provided you was important for a meaningful and contended life.  He said he was thankful for all the kindness extended on him since the time he was an orphan on the streets of Kathmandu. He said he was grateful for all the opportunities he received from the people who helped him take next steps towards his goal.
He also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Shoolini University under which his Foundation would be mentoring students of the University. The Foundation would give projects around child safety and sexual abuse. He would also provide mentorship to understand how to handle these sensitive topics. In turn the trained students would go to other schools and hold awareness sessions.
Under the MoU, Basu Rai will work with Shoolini university for the cause of child labour. The students of Shoolini university will be volunteering for the work. There will be activities and workshops organised for the cause and making a change.
The MoU was signed on behalf of the University by Vice Chancellor Prof Atul Khosla is the presence of Dean Students Welfare Mrs Poonam Nanda.

Earlier during his “Guru Talk”, Basu said his dream is to build a home for children who do not have a family and for those grand parents whose family’s have left them. By doing this he would be fulfilling the needs of both the children and the grandparents.
