HPNLU Hosts Global Forensics Conference, Signs MoU with HP Directorate

Shimla, June 6, 2025 — Himachal Pradesh National Law University (HPNLU), Shimla, reaffirmed its commitment to interdisciplinary legal research by hosting an International Conference on “Role of Forensic Science in Criminal Investigation: Contemporary Issues and Challenges.” Organized under the leadership of Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Priti Saxena, the event was a collaborative effort by the Centre for Criminology and Forensic Science (CCFS).
The university also signed a landmark MoU with the Himachal Pradesh Directorate of Forensics Services, Shimla, opening new avenues for academic-industry collaboration in forensic training and research.
The conference brought together global and national experts including Prof. (Dr.) Devinder Singh, VC of DBRANLU Sonepat; Shri Anup Kumar Ratan, Advocate General, HP; Prof. (Dr.) Purvi Pokhriyal (NFSU), Prof. (Dr.) Arun Sharma (NFSU, Uganda); and Ms. Lisa Ragaza (University of New Haven, USA). Key discussions revolved around digital forensics, brain-mapping, narco-analysis, and emerging technologies in criminal investigations.
With ten technical sessions and over seventy participants from academia, law, and science, the conference fostered in-depth academic dialogue. A highlight of the event was the launch announcement of CCFS’s first academic journal.
