Shimla, April 22, 2025 – In celebration of Earth Day, the Himalayan Adventure Sports and Tourism Promotion Association (HASTPA), in collaboration with the Cycling Association of Himachal Pradesh, organized a dynamic cycling workshop at Auckland House School for Boys, Shimla. Spearheaded by Mohit Sood, President of HASTPA and General Secretary of the state Cycling Association, the event encouraged sustainable commuting and promoted cycling as a competitive school sport.
The two-hour workshop engaged 52 students through skill-based training sessions, video tutorials on cycling techniques for various terrains—especially mountainous landscapes—and an exciting on-campus competition. Shashwat Thakur and Agney Singh Grover from Class IX emerged as first and second place winners respectively, receiving t-shirts as tokens of appreciation.
A special highlight of the event was the recognition of Adhirit Singh Walia, a Class XI student and bronze medalist at the National Level Cycling Competition. He was felicitated with a professional cycling suit, encouraging further pursuit of the sport.
Students showed keen interest in upcoming cycling events, including Mountain Terrain Biking (MTB) at various levels—inter-school to international—and explored the possibilities of Olympic participation.
Auckland House School aims to establish cycling as a regular school sport, with a vision to actively train students for its Annual Cycling Event in the near future.
