DC Reviews School Safety in Shimla, Expresses Concern Over Principal Absence
Shimla, August 29: Deputy Commissioner Shimla Anupam Kashyap chaired a meeting at Bachat Bhawan to review and strengthen safety arrangements in government and private schools. Representatives of 28 schools were invited, but several private school principals remained absent despite two reminders, prompting concern from the DC.
The DC directed schools to conduct daily security checks before opening and after closing and submit a safety certificate to the district police. He also stressed strict implementation of the School Safety SOP, including controlled entry, visitor registers, CCTV surveillance, security staff verification, vehicle and driver checks, monthly safety audits and appointment of nodal safety officers.
Additional SP Gaurav Jeet Singh directed schools to immediately inform police about suspicious persons, vehicles or objects and report any drone spotted over school premises. The DC emphasized that student safety is the top priority and negligence will not be tolerated.
