“Contract Recruitment Ban Betrayal of Youth Job Promises” : Jairam

Shimla, May 2, 2025 – Former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition, *Jai Ram Thakur*, has accused the Sukhu-led Congress government of deliberately stalling employment opportunities for youth in Himachal Pradesh by imposing a ban on all contract-based recruitments.
In a strongly-worded statement, Thakur said the state government’s directive issued on April 25 to halt all contract-based hiring has not only blocked new recruitments but also disrupted ongoing hiring processes. “No fresh orders have been issued even a week after the ban. Youth across the state are waiting for clarity. When will the new recruitment process begin?” he questioned.
Thakur alleged that this move is yet another tactic by the government to keep young people jobless—similar to the earlier dissolution of the Staff Selection Commission for nearly two years. “This is part of a larger conspiracy to deny jobs to the youth,” he added.
He reminded the public of the Congress’s poll promise to offer one lakh jobs in the first cabinet meeting and five lakh jobs over five years. “Instead of creating jobs, the government is focused on taking them away,” said Thakur. He also pointed out the silence of ministers on other guarantees like Rs. 1500 per month to women and startup funding.
Calling the recruitment freeze an “anti-youth” policy, Thakur vowed to expose the government’s failures and keep its unfulfilled promises in public memory.
