Bright Minds Reunite at APG Shimla University Alumni Meet

APG Shimla University hosted its first-ever alumni meet titled “Bright Alumni: Celebrating Years of Excellence” on Saturday at the university auditorium. The event witnessed participation from alumni representing the graduating batches from 2013 to 2024.

Established in 2012, APG Shimla University commenced its first academic session in 2013. Over the past decade, the university has successfully provided quality education to over 4,071 students from across India and abroad, with an outstanding track record of 100% placements. Alumni from APG Shimla University are now excelling in diverse sectors — some have launched startups, some are employed at prestigious positions in multinational corporations, while others have secured high-ranking government roles.

The event was graced by Mr. Sunil Dutt Sharma, Political Advisor to the Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, as the Chief Guest, and renowned hotel industry professional Mr. Pawan Verma as the Guest of Honour. The ceremony began with a traditional Saraswati Vandana and lamp lighting by the chief guest. Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Rajendra Singh Chauhan welcomed the guests with a Himachali cap, shawl, and souvenir.

Students of the university welcomed the alumni with cultural and traditional folk dance performances. The alumni shared memories from their academic years and reflected on their professional journeys, offering valuable insights and inspiration to the current students.

Addressing the gathering, Chief Guest Mr. Sunil Dutt Sharma stated that alumni serve as guiding lights for current students, helping them understand the challenges and opportunities in their careers. He emphasized that teachers and parents play a pivotal role in shaping students’ lives, not only by imparting knowledge but also by instilling values. He described alumni meets as rare yet joyful occasions that provide an opportunity to reconnect, reminisce, and build strong professional networks.

Mr. Sharma appreciated the university’s commitment to providing value-based and practical education, and commended the achievements of alumni working across private and public sectors in India and abroad. He encouraged students to embrace hard work, stay positive in the face of failures, and carry out every task with passion and dedication. He also felicitated the meritorious alumni with certificates and mementos and extended his best wishes for their continued success.

During the ceremony, Mr. Sunil Dutt Sharma also inaugurated the Bright Alumni Portal of APG Shimla University.

In his welcome address, Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Rajendra Singh Chauhan greeted the alumni and referred to the university as their “second home.” He mentioned that APG Shimla University alumni are now contributing significantly in fields like IT, banking, hospitality, education, pharmacy, healthcare, engineering, architecture, fashion design, journalism, law, and management — both nationally and internationally. Many are also engaged in research and higher studies, inspiring the next generation of students. He emphasized the university’s focus on quality education, innovation, skill development, research, and employability.

Guest of Honour Mr. Pawan Verma praised the alumni meet as a platform that unites talented individuals under one roof. He highlighted the importance of knowledge-sharing through alumni events and encouraged students to remain connected with their alma mater. He also advised the youth to stay away from drugs and remain focused on their goals.

The event was attended by Chairperson Er. Suman Vikrant, Pro-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Ramesh Chauhan, Registrar Dr. R.L. Sharma, Dean of Academics Prof. (Dr.) Anand Mohan Sharma, Controller of Examinations Mr. Afzal Khan, Dean of Student Welfare Dr. Neelam Ratna Sharma, and heads and faculty members from various departments of the university.

In his concluding remarks, Registrar Dr. R.L. Sharma thanked the chief guest for guiding the students and inspiring them toward success. He expressed his gratitude to all the alumni for their participation and urged them to continue making the university proud with their achievements. He also congratulated the university management for the successful organization of the event.
