Shimla Court Orders Final Demolition of Sanjauli Mosque

Shimla, May 3, 2025 — The Municipal Corporation Commissioner’s Court in Shimla has ordered the demolition of the remaining two floors of the controversial Sanjauli Mosque structure. During today’s hearing, the Waqf Board failed to present valid land ownership documents or an approved structural map. Commissioner Bhupinder Atri declared the entire structure illegal.
The Waqf Board claimed the mosque existed before 1947 and was rebuilt later, but the court questioned the absence of required permissions. This decision follows earlier orders from October 5 for partial demolition amid protests and communal tensions.
