India Reports Highest 3,60,960 COVID Cases
1 min readDelhi, April 28 – India registered 3,60,960 fresh cases of the Novel Coronavirus and 3,293 casualties in the past 24 hours, the highest single-day spike in cases and deaths in 24 hours since the pandemic hit, according to the data updated by the Union Health Ministry today morning.
The fresh addition took the total tally to 1,79,97,267 while the death toll crossed the grim milestone of two lakh-mark to stand at 2,01,187.
The active caseload in the country is 29,78,709 comprising 16.55 per cent of the total infections while 1,48,17,371 people have recovered from disease so far amounting 82.33 percent of the recovery rate.
Meanwhile, the case fatality rate stayed at 1.12 percent.
According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), 28,27,03,789 samples have been tested so far for coronavirus, of which 17,23,912 were tested in the past day.
On the vaccination front, total of 14,78,27,367 people have been vaccinated across the country till now, of which 25,56,182 doses administered in the past 24 hours.
Maharashtra, which has been the most affected state in the country, saw the highest 895 deaths in the past 24 hours, followed by Delhi (381), Uttar Pradesh (264), Chhattisgarh (246), Karnataka (180), Gujarat (170), Jharkhand (131), Rajasthan (121)and Punjab (100).
On Tuesday, India reported 3,23,144 cases and 2771 deaths.
India’s previous highest single-day COVID cases tally and deaths was recorded on Monday (26-04-2021), when 3,52,991 cases and 2,812 fatalities were reported.
