PMAY-G Beneficiaries in Himachal Pradesh Can Now Geo-Tag Houses Themselves Through Awaas App

New Facility to Simplify Verification and Expedite Release of Instalments

Shimla, November 6: Beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana–Gramin (PMAY-G) in Himachal Pradesh can now geo-tag their houses under construction themselves through the Awaas App, following the introduction of a self geo-tagging facility by the Rural Development Department.

Earlier, geo-tagging of houses at different stages of construction was carried out exclusively by departmental field officials. The process was then used to assess beneficiaries’ eligibility for the release of subsequent instalments. Under the new facility, beneficiaries can upload geo-tagging details themselves and initiate the process for the next instalment. However, the submissions will remain subject to verification and approval by officials of the concerned Development Block.

The initiative aims to ensure timely updating of construction progress on the PMAY-G portal, simplify the geo-tagging process and accelerate the completion of houses under the scheme. It is also expected to facilitate the processing and release of instalments to eligible beneficiaries.

Beneficiaries can log in to the Awaas App through any of four options: PMAY-G Registration ID, mobile number registered on the PMAY-G portal, Aadhaar-based login or NREGA Job Card. All four options require OTP-based verification.

Beneficiaries who have changed their mobile numbers can visit the concerned Block Office to get their updated number registered on the PMAY-G portal so that they can receive the OTP required for login.

The department has clarified that the self geo-tagging process must be completed in accordance with the prescribed Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). All submissions will be subject to verification and approval by the concerned block-level officials.

At present, self geo-tagging is optional for beneficiaries. The existing system, under which departmental field officials carry out geo-tagging, will continue alongside the new facility.

The Rural Development Department has directed officers and field staff to widely publicise the facility and create awareness among eligible beneficiaries. They have also been instructed to circulate the prescribed SOPs and provide necessary guidance to ensure effective implementation across the state.
