Rajesh Kumar Chandel—undertook an extensive on-site review of SJVN’s hydroelectric ventures in eastern Nepal today.

During the visit, the senior management inspected critical construction fronts of the flagship 900 MW Arun-3 Hydro Electric Project, including the Dam Site and the Powerhouse Site, to review on-ground execution, technical benchmarks, and project readiness.

Marking a major step forward for the downstream 669 MW Lower Arun Hydro Electric Project, the CMD and Directors visited the Lower Arun project site and reviewed the preparations for formal commencing of the construction activities targeted from November 2026.

Interacting with the SJVN, SAPDC, and SLPDC teams stationed across the project locations, Sh. Bhupender Gupta commended the engineers, officers, and staff for their dedication and hard work under challenging terrain conditions, noting that their commitment is pivotal to the timely delivery of these strategic projects.

The visiting leadership also held detailed review meetings with the management and representatives of the executing contracting agencies. Emphasizing strict adherence to project timelines and quality parameters, the CMD directed the contractors to step up resource mobilization, address site-level constraints proactively, and expedite the pace of ongoing works.

Both the Arun-3 and Lower Arun projects represent key pillars of bilateral clean energy cooperation between India and Nepal, and SJVN reiterated its steadfast commitment to sustainable infrastructure development and regional energy security.
