Assembly Speaker Lays Foundation Stone for Veer Sainik Community Hall

Chamba, October 29: Himachal Pradesh Assembly Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania on Thursday laid the foundation stone for the Veer Sainik Community Hall in Kakira town of the Bhatiyat Assembly constituency. The facility will be constructed at a cost of ₹28 lakh.

Addressing a public gathering, Pathania paid tribute to serving and retired armed forces personnel and their families for their contribution to national security. He said the Kakira and Bakloh areas had a long-standing association with the Indian Army, with generations of local families serving the country.

Referring to the vision of Viksit Bharat @ 2047, Pathania said states must be economically empowered to achieve the national goal. He called for Himachal Pradesh to receive a proportionate share of the revenue generated by the Centre through the exploitation of the state’s natural resources.

He also stressed the need to bring the strategically important Dharam-Draman–Chowari–Chamba–Tissa–Pangi road under the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and urged central representatives to cooperate in implementing the proposed tunnels along the route.

₹1.69 Crore Approved for Firefighting System

Pathania shared details of ongoing and proposed development projects in Kakira and surrounding areas. He announced that ₹1.69 crore had been approved for a hydrant-based firefighting system in the town, which will include water storage capacity of more than two lakh litres.

He also said the Kakira health centre would be upgraded and that a proposal had been prepared for a sewerage system in the town. He outlined measures being taken to expand the road network and improve local infrastructure.

Earlier, Captain Puran Singh Thapa, president of the Himachal Pradesh Ex-Servicemen League, honoured the Assembly Speaker and delivered the welcome address.
