Eternal University to Host International Conference on India’s Agriculture Vision 2047
Baru Sahib, October 21: Eternal University will host a two-day international conference on “India’s Agriculture Vision 2047: Reimagining Policy, Research, Extension, and Education for Sustainable Global Leadership” on October 31 and November 1 at its campus in Baru Sahib, Sirmaur district.
The conference is being jointly organised by the Dr Khem Singh Gill Akal College of Agriculture and the University Corporate Resource Centre (UCRC). It aims to bring together agricultural scientists, researchers, policymakers, academicians and industry representatives to explore strategies for transforming Indian agriculture and strengthening its global leadership by 2047.
The deliberations will focus on developing sustainable, climate-resilient and economically viable agricultural systems by integrating traditional knowledge with emerging technologies. Key areas of discussion will include agricultural policy and governance, precision farming, artificial intelligence, robotics, biotechnology, efficient resource management and technology-led agricultural education.
With shrinking landholdings and changes in the rural workforce posing challenges to the farming sector, the conference will also examine ways to make agriculture more technology-driven, skill-oriented and attractive to younger generations. Strengthening agricultural extension services and improving the transfer of research-based innovations from laboratories to farmers’ fields will form an important part of the discussions.
The conference has attracted more than 200 participants, according to the organisers, with international representation expected from the United Kingdom, Canada, Indonesia and Nepal, alongside experts from across India. The participation is expected to facilitate knowledge exchange on agricultural innovations, global best practices and collaborative approaches to sustainable farming.
The programme will feature keynote addresses, technical sessions, oral and poster presentations, panel discussions and the release of a conference souvenir. The sessions are also expected to encourage partnerships among academic institutions, policymakers and industry stakeholders.
Through the conference, Eternal University aims to contribute to discussions on the future direction of agricultural research, education and policy, with a focus on innovation, sustainability and resilient farming systems as India moves towards its 2047 development goals.
