Addresses convocation ceremony of Bahra University
Governor Kavinder Gupta said that knowledge must be complemented by skills, sensitivity, ethical values and a sense of responsibility and asked the students to remain connected to their cultural roots while embracing innovation and new opportunities.
The Governor was addressing the convocation ceremony of Bahra University in Solan district today. On this occasion, he conferred degrees upon 577 students.
The Governor said that the occasion marked not merely the completion of an academic journey but also the beginning of a new phase filled with opportunities, challenges and responsibilities.
While congratulating the graduating students, the Governor acknowledged the contribution of parents and teachers in their achievements. He appreciated Bahra University’s growth since its establishment in September 2010 under the Bahra Educational and Charitable Society. With 10 schools, 16 departments and over 60 programmes, the university has emerged as leading centre of education and research, catering to around 4,000 students.
Sh. Gupta said that in an era of rapid technological advancement, artificial intelligence and digital transformation, a degree alone was not enough. Knowledge must be complemented by skills, sensitivity, ethical values and a sense of responsibility. He urged students to remain connected to their cultural roots while embracing innovation and new opportunities.
Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Viksit Bharat @2047, the Governor called upon youth to become active partners in nation-building. He encouraged them to become job creators rather than merely job seekers, promote entrepreneurship and innovation and use their knowledge and talent for the larger benefit of society. He emphasised that professional success acquires greater meaning when it contributes to social progress and national development.
The Governor said that the convocation marked not the end of education but the beginning of a new journey. He urged the graduates to uphold the university’s reputation, fulfil their parent’s aspirations, honour the trust of teachers and contribute meaningfully to the progress of the nation. He wished all the graduating students a successful, purposeful and fulfilling future.
Earlier, Chancellor of Bahra University Sardar Gurvinder Singh Bahra, welcomed the Governor.
