‘Josh’ Launched in Kangra to Strengthen Public Participation in TB-Free India Campaign
Dharamshala, October 8: The Joint Squad for Health (Josh) was launched in Kangra district to strengthen public participation in the TB-Free India Campaign and accelerate efforts to achieve the goal of a TB-free India before 2030.
Kangra MP Dr Rajiv Bhardwaj, who was the chief guest, said the fight against TB cannot be limited to the Health Department and requires active participation from all sections of society. He urged youth, NGOs, NCC and NSS cadets, MY Bharat volunteers, sports organisations and other social groups to contribute to the campaign.
Kangra Deputy Commissioner Hemraj Bairwa said **287 gram panchayats in the district have been declared TB-free**. He said special efforts are being made for early identification of TB patients, timely treatment and ensuring a supportive environment for patients.
Bairwa also thanked banks, organisations, volunteers and other supporters for providing nutritional kits to TB patients under the Nikshay Mitra initiative.
During the programme, representatives from the sports sector, NSS and NCC cadets, NGOs, bankers and TB Champions were honoured for their contribution to the TB elimination campaign. Chief Medical Officer Dr Omesh Kumar Bharti outlined the Health Department’s initiatives and stressed the importance of community participation.
