DC Launches District-Level ‘Josh Campaign’ for TB-Free Chamba
Chamba, October 8: Deputy Commissioner Mukesh Repaswal launched the district-level ‘Josh Campaign’ under the TB-Free India Campaign at the Chief Medical Officer’s office here on Wednesday.
Repaswal honoured the heads of 19 gram panchayats declared TB-free and called for stronger community participation in efforts to eliminate tuberculosis. He said timely detection, testing and completion of treatment are crucial to preventing serious complications and deaths from TB.
The Deputy Commissioner said TB is curable and free treatment is available. He urged Panchayat representatives to identify suspected cases in their areas and encourage people to undergo testing and treatment without hesitation, while also helping reduce stigma and misconceptions surrounding the disease.
Repaswal also honoured CMO Dr Jalam Singh Bhardwaj and District TB Officer Dr Harit Puri for their work towards TB elimination.
Dr Bhardwaj outlined the objectives of the Josh Campaign, saying it focuses on early identification, timely diagnosis and treatment, treatment completion, and providing nutritional and social support to TB patients through active community participation.
