Jairam Thakur Ends BJP Workers’ Hunger Strike in Ghumarwin

Bilaspur, Sept. 25: Former Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur on Friday visited Ghumarwin and ended the hunger strike of BJP leaders and workers by offering them juice.

Thakur said the protesters had raised their demands through democratic means and that ending the hunger strike did not mean an end to the issue. He said the BJP would continue to pursue the matter through constitutional and democratic means.

According to Thakur, the protest was related to complaints over alleged abusive and objectionable comments against BJP leaders on social media. He alleged that despite complaints, police had not registered cases, while cases were being registered promptly on complaints lodged by Congress leaders against BJP workers.

Calling for equal application of the law, Thakur urged officials and the police to work impartially and in accordance with the Constitution and law. He said the BJP would continue to raise issues where it believed democratic rights or legal principles were being violated.
