Jai Ram Thakur Accuses Sukhu Government of Stalling Kangra Development

Kangra/Baijnath, September 22: Leader of Opposition and former Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur accused the Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu-led government of stalling development works in Kangra and alleged that several projects initiated during the previous BJP government had either been stopped or left incomplete.

Addressing a felicitation programme for newly elected Panchayati Raj representatives in Baijnath, Thakur alleged that completed buildings, including the ITI at Sakri and Mini Secretariat at Chhota Bhangal, remained unused, while work on the bus stand had been halted. He also raised concerns over the Central University of Himachal Pradesh campus at Jadrangal, claiming the state had not deposited the required Rs 30 crore. University records confirm that over Rs 30 crore is required from the state for compensatory afforestation and related charges. ([Himachal Pradesh University][1])

On Panchayati Raj elections, Thakur said the BJP had pursued the matter through the courts. The High Court had directed that the elections be completed within the constitutionally prescribed timeframe, with the issue also reaching the Supreme Court. ([Indian Kanoon][2])

Thakur also highlighted welfare measures implemented during his government and credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s tenure with major national developments. He urged BJP workers to remain united ahead of the next Assembly election.
